Level I Bebop Vocal Warmups

$20.00

The bebop vocal warmups are intended to bridge the gap between standard vocal warmups and working on jazz repertoire within a practice session. The warmups are geared towards combining jazz ear training with vocal agility and tongue coordination. While being rooted in theory and scales, the exercises are primarily inspired by transcriptions of Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Lester Young and Bud Powell. Exercises in Level I are within the major, minor, major bebop, and dominant bebop scale.

The Bebop Vocal Warmups include:

  • 15 warmups in all 12 keys within the following three categories: scalar patterns, enclosures and approaches and licks and idiomatic phrases with analysis.

  • Suggested scat syllables for every exercise.

  • Every exercise has a backing track in two different tempos (fast and slow) in all 12 keys, so you can practice the bebop warmups anywhere. (There is also a reference of me performing the exercise to demonstrate the syllables.)

  • Bebop glossary (both notation and audio) for each scale used in the exercises with transpositions to all 12 keys.
